Recon is one of many, many projects from "N.O." who has been churning out harsh noise, dungeon synth, lo-fi black metal, power electronics, gorenoise, drone, ambient and more under his Luminous Relics label. Truly a curious mind with a keen eye for aesthetics, N. was also one of the first people who was asked to be a part of the A/E roster and I'm sure we'll see several of his other projects presented on the label in due time.

For now, Recon's "The End Is Here" is a hyper, heavy hitting addition to this very beat-driven late summer drop. Starting out with a sample from Werner Herzog warning us that, "Something is looming over the city, the city that will soon be laid waste by war..." the onslaught of frenzied outbursts begin and don't really let up for the entire duration of the release. High energy, damaged electronics that would not be out of place on the dance floor, the soundtrack to a dystopian film or a party atop the ruins of what once were.

Rather than describe what this sounds like (a futile task), I will describe how it makes me feel. First it is much like white noise, blocking the world around me. It's just me and whatever I happen to be giving my attention to with no distractions or external worries. Then it is energizing and uplifting. I have more focus and energy. These soundscapes get me in the zone to help me concentrate on whatever I'm doing, whether it be washing dishes or scrolling Facebook. And it sounds damn cool too. dharmalogos
